1. Gantong Cablecar


*See: Stunning views of ErHai Lake, QingBi waterfall and Cangshan Canyon.
* Price Includes: Taxi to Gantong Temple cable car, National Park entry fee, cable car ticket up and down. Duration: 2-3 hours.
N.B: You will need to pay for a taxi back to Dali Old Town (25-30 RMB), or walk down to the highway and catch a no.4 bus back (1½ RMB).

2. Er Hai Lake Cruise


* See: Er Hai Lake up close, Xiao PuTuo Island (15 mins), NanZhao Customs Island (40 mins), traditional dancing on board the ferry.
* Price includes: Taxi to the ferry near CaiCun pier, ferry ticket, island entry fee, 3 course tea tasting on board the ferry.
* Duration: 6 hours including public transport back from TaoYuan port to Dali Old Town. Ask our staff to provide you with a note in Chinese to assist you getting back to Dali Old Town from TaoYuan port.

3. The Three Pagodas and ChongSheng Temple

Standing since 824-950AD, the Three Pagodas were built to protect the area from dragons. As none have been seen since it must have worked! On a more serious note, these pagodas have stood the test of time – surviving several earthquakes while most buildings in the area crumbled.
The ChongSheng Temple was once the Royal Temple of the Kingdom of Dali and one of the largest Buddhist centres in South East Asia.

* Price includes: Transport to the Three Pagodas, Entry to the Three Pagodas.
* Duration: 2-4 hours. When finished just walk back to Dali Old Town (20 minutes).

1. Gracie Jiu Jitsu School


Located just behind the Jade Emu is the Gracie Jiu Jitsu School. Ferdinand and his team offer classes for beginner through to expert. Children’s classes and yoga are also available. See their website for more information.

2. Rice and Friends Cooking Classes


Rice and Friends offer daily Chinese cooking classes. Dishes include the local Kong Pao chicken and the classic spring rolls. Bookings can be made at the Jade Emu reception.

3. Chinese Tea Ceremony

Discover the art of drinking tea in a Chinese tea ceremony by the Cha Yun Xun Ran tea organisation. Every Thursday afternoon in the Song Sisters Bookshop. There is no cost to participate (but please reserve your seat at Jade Emu reception to avoid disappointment). Private tea ceremony sessions can also be organised on request.

4. Rock Solid Adventures

Go cycling, hiking, climbing or caving with the Rock Solid Adventures team. They also have a climbing wall at the “Dali Art Factory”. Visit their website for more information.
